I've booked my flight to Peace Corps staging in D.C.!

Hello everyone!

This is officially my first blog ever!  It starts the documentation and communication regarding my Peace Corps experience in Nicaragua which begins May 10th when I attend my pre-service orientation (or staging) in Washington D.C. with all the other Nica volunteers.  I booked my flight today that will get me there to begin this whole crazy exciting process!  I still have all my packing to do (man, there's a lot of stuff to think about, and not nearly enough room in two checked bags to bring everything I want with me!) and lots of paperwork to still complete, but I'm slowly but surely getting myself ready.  After one day in D.C., we'll all fly into Nicaragua's capital of Managua to begin 11 weeks of pre-service training (PST) that will prepare and train me for my role as an Agriculture and Sustainable Food Security volunteer.  PST consists of language training (Spanish), cross cultural, technical, and safety awareness training, after which we are sworn in officially as Peace Corps volunteers for two years of service!  I'm hoping to keep up with this blog as a way to document my experience for my own well being as well as communicate and share this experience with everyone else!  This adventure will be difficult and trying I'm sure, but I'm hoping overall to come out of it a more educated and traveled person with an updated view on the world and my life's role in it.  Wish me luck!  I look forward to hearing from everyone.
